Walk from Westminster to the South Bank
This route keeps things simple: start at Westminster, cross the river, follow the Thames, and let the views guide the day.
Start at Westminster Station
Come out near Parliament Square and take a moment to orient yourself. This is one of the strongest first views of London, with Big Ben, Parliament, Westminster Abbey, and the river all nearby.
Big Ben & Parliament Views
Walk toward Westminster Bridge for the classic angle of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. This area gets crowded, so take your photos, enjoy the view, and keep moving toward the bridge.
Cross Westminster Bridge
Cross the bridge slowly. Look back toward Parliament, then ahead toward the London Eye. This short crossing is one of the easiest ways to understand how central London sits around the river.
London Eye & Riverside Path
Once you reach the South Bank side, follow the riverside path. You will pass the London Eye, street performers, food kiosks, benches, and plenty of open views across the Thames.
Continue Toward Southbank Centre
Keep walking east toward Southbank Centre. This area works well for a coffee, casual food stop, bookstore browse, or a break if you are combining this route with a longer London day.
Finish Near Waterloo or Keep Walking
You can finish near Waterloo Station, loop back toward Westminster, or continue along the river toward Blackfriars and Borough Market if you still have energy.

Walk it slowly. That is the point.
This route is not about covering distance. It is about seeing London open up from Westminster to the river. Leave time for the bridge views, street performers, coffee stops, and small detours.
